Headlight Out Warning
No Rush — Urgency 2/5You can drive, but be aware that your visibility to other drivers is reduced. Avoid driving at night if possible until the bulb is replaced. If it is a brake light, get it fixed right away — the driver behind you cannot see you braking. This is general information — always ensure your car meets legal requirements.
This is general guidance. Your situation may differ — when in doubt, don’t drive.
What does this mean?
This light tells you that one of your exterior bulbs — a headlight, tail light, or brake light — has gone out. Other drivers may not be able to see you properly, especially at night. You could also be pulled over by the police for it.
What should I do right now?
Get the bulb replaced as soon as you can. Many garages and car parts shops will fit a new bulb for you cheaply. Some bulbs are easy to replace yourself — your car's manual will show you how. Buy the correct bulb by checking the manual or asking at a parts shop.
